Films: "Acid Test" and "The Story of Stuff"

Wednesday, April 20, 11:10 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

"Acid Test" explores the ramifications of excess CO2 warming the planet. More insidiously, it's making the ocean more acidic, killing the small organisms we all depend upon. "The Story of Stuff" follows the life cycle of items we buy, but don't usually need, from extraction of courses to complacent trashing. Sponsored by the Whole Earth Club.

Wednesday, April 20, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Learn about Onondaga Community College’s planned solar panel installation project from Hugh Jones, president of Energy Masters LLC. The presentation will highlight the OCC solar project design and Energy Masters’ innovative portable solar panels for use in remote applications. Mr. Jones has decades of experience with renewable energy and has done extensive work with solar panels in military applications.

Film: "Coal Country"

Wednesday, April 27, 11:10 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Whitney Applied Technology Center: Room W201
600 feet have been blown off the top of more than 500 mountains in West Virginia, all to obtain coal so we can satisfy our obsession with consumption. The communities, rivers and environment in Appalachia are dying for electricity while efficiency and renewable energy could replace all US coal plants. Sponsored by the Whole Earth Club.
