STEM Camp (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

Monday, July 29 - Friday, August 2, 2013
9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mulroy Hall

Onondaga Community College’s STEM Camp focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with a half day spent in the classroom setting and a half day seeing how STEM is applied in the real world.

In the classroom, students will first learn the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT robotics programming software, the brains of the robot. Students will then work in teams to assemble a robot, upload the program, and make the robot come alive and perform different operations. The second part of STEM Camp consists of daily field trips to local companies that incorporate science, technology, engineering or math into their organizational operations.

Students will be required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for the field trips, and should be prepared to walk distances and climb stairs. Certain tours require wearing special safety equipment and are conducted in tight spaces. A photo ID may also be required.

Tuition: $300
Instructor: Scott Stagnitta
