Lacrosse Coaches' Profiles

Head Coach: Chuck Wilbur is a 1995 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, where he is in the school's hall of fame. He went on to Herkimer County Community College, where he was a two time All-American lacrosse player in 1996 & 1997. He was named the NJCAA National Player of the Year in 1997. He continued on to play Hobart College in 1998 and 1999. He graduated from Hobart in 1999, and was the Team Most Valuable Player and leading scorer that year. As Onondaga head coach, Chuck has compiled a 170-15 record, winning 11 consecutive Mid-State Athletic Conference championships, 8 consecutive Region 3 championships, and 6 National Championships. Chuck was named the NJCAA Lacrosse Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2011 and has been named conference coach of the year for 7 consecutive seasons. Chuck resides in Cicero with his wife Laura, son Nicholas and daughter Elena.

Assistant Coach: Mike Villano is a 1995 graduate of Auburn High School in Auburn, New York.  He graduated from Herkimer County Community College in 1997, where he was a two time All-American and member of the 1996 National Championship team.  He graduated from Hobart College in 1999.  Mike was a North/South Senior all star team participant his senior year at Hobart and has orchestrated Onondaga's hard hitting, stingy defense since 2002. Mike resides in Auburn with his wife Chrissy and their two boys, Mikey and Rocco Villano.

Assistant Coach:  Joe Villano, the brother of Mike Villano, played high school lacrosse at Auburn High School. He went on to Hudson Valley Community College for two years, where he was a two-sport star in football and lacrosse. In lacrosse, he was named an All-American Defenseman. He finished up his career at Division I University of Hartford, where he was a two-year starter and team captain. Joe has been helping with are defense and goalies since the 2005 season. Joe lives in Auburn with his wife Kelly and their children Alexa and Joseph.

Director of Lacrosse Operations/Assistant CoachChris Brim is a Jordan-Elbridge graduate; he then played two years here at Onondaga. A very good crease attackman, he finished his sophomore campaign with 34 goals and 10 assists. Chris was a two-time Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic All-American during his time at Onondaga. He is the head of academic development for the team which includes study halls and tutoring sessions. Chris also coordinates much of the recruiting for the program, in addition to running the box on game days. He resides in Elbridge with his wife Kayley and their daughter Ellie.

Assistant Coach: Nick Gatto is a Henninger High graduate. Nick played two years at Onondaga in 2005 and 2006 where he captured two regional championships and was Captain of the 2006 undefeated National Championship team. In 2006 Nick was named 1st team All American and junior college offensive player of the year.  Nick also had a junior college record breaking year in 2006 with 95 assists to go along with 40 goals, the 135 points led all junior colleges. Nick is the all time assists leader at Onondaga and is 2nd all time in points. Nick received an athletic scholarship to play for Lemoyne College. There Nick help guide the Dolphins to the 2007 Division 2 National championship, Nick was second on the team in points. In 2008 Nick help get the Dolphins back to National championship and was again named an All American. The College is excited to have Nick back with the program,he will be offensive coordinator for the high powered Lazer offense.

Assistant Coach: Vinnie Alexander returns to OCC after playing 2008 and 2009 as a starting attackmen for the Lazers. In 2008 he was named All American. In 2009 he was one of the captains who help lead the Onondaga to its 3rd National Championship. Vinnie graduated from Onondaga as a 2x academic all American and went on to Lemoyne College where he starred for the Dolphins. Vinnie will be working with the offense.

Assistant Coach: Brian Griffin was a 4 year started and former All American for Lemoyne where he was part of the Dolphins 2006 and 2007 National Championship team. Griffin was a face off specialists where he was considered one of the top face off guys in the country all four years at Lemoyne. Brian is a huge addition to the coaching staff where he will work primarily with our face off guys.
