Elinor Frey – Cello Recital and String Masterclass

Current and recent seasons have brought cellist Elinor Frey to both North America and Europe,such as performing Bernstein's "Three Meditations" with the Grand Junction Symphony in Colorado, the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Rogue Valley Symphony in Ashland, Oregon, and recitals and master classes at the American Academy in Rome, Hamilton College, Cornell University, Dartmouth University, Bowdoin College, Mesa State University, Ithaca College, and Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. As chamber musician, she performs with Baroque groups Ensemble Caprice, Ensemble Masques, Arion, Les Idées Hereuses, the Lamèque Festival, Proemio, Jefferson Baroque, Bradamante, and Pallade Musica, and contemporary groups Ensemble KORe, Novus NY, Hezarfen (Istanbul), le NEM (Montreal), and the Society for New Music (Syracuse). 

Elinor’s honors include a Fulbright Fellowship to Italy where she studied baroque cello with Paolo Beschi in Como, Italy, the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship, and Canada Council for the Arts grants facilitating her work on Italian baroque and modern unaccompanied cello music. Her debut album, Dialoghi, titled for the solo piece written for her by Steven Stucky, was released on the Yarlung Records label. 

Elinor has a doctorate from McGill University, master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and B.M. from the Mannes College of Music. Elinor has served on numerous faculties including the Ithaca College Summer Chamber Music Institute, CAMMAC Ontario, the Ithaca Suzuki Institute, Orvieto Musica in Italy, and is the director of the Notti Barocche Concert Series in Montreal. www.elinorfrey.com
