Professor Gives Lecture on ‘The Art of Tattoo’

Dr. Christine Braunberger, professor of English / Reading / Communication at Onondaga Community College, recently gave a presentation to a standing-room only audience at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC). Her presentation was titled, “Stories in the Flesh: The Art of Tattoo” and was part of MVCC’s Cultural Series.

Braunberger, who holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Purdue University has published several works on the art of tattoo in publications such as Women’s Studies Journal; Columbia Journal of American Studies; and Genders. Most recently, Dr. Braunberger did biographical work for the woman known as the “godmother’ of tattoo, Shanghai Kate Hellenbrand. She is also a highly-sought after member of the College’s Faculty Expert Guide, a resource for journalists in television, radio and print.
