Onondaga Professor to Serve on International Finance Committee
Onondaga Community College mathematics professor Jane D. Tanner, of Parish NY, was recently elected to serve as a member of the International Finance Committee in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The organization is a professional honor society for women educators with more than 115,000 members. Established in 16 member countries around the world, the Society defines its mission as promoting professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
The Finance Committee’s purpose is to be responsible for supervision of the Society's financial affairs. They establish guidelines for the corporate secretary regarding investment of all funds and provide for an annual audit by an external certified public accountant.
According to Tanner her involvement in the organization allows her to network with key women educators from around the world. “I am now more aware of educational similarities and differences between our states and other countries,” said Tanner, who has taught both mathematics and computer information systems at Onondaga Community College since 1982.
