Flex Start Spring 2013

Flex Start is an opportunity for students to earn college credit in a 10 week period of time. Flex Start courses begin February 25, 2013 and end May 13, 2013  The face-to-face Flex Start classes will take place in Mulroy Hall at Onondaga. This recently renovated building has 15 smart classrooms, wireless internet and ample parking.

What is Flex Start?

Is Flex Start appropriate for every student?

No, Flex Start classes are NOT appropriate for every student. The shortened time frame means that students must be able to master competencies at a quicker pace.

Is it possible to receive financial aid for Flex Start?

Some forms of financial aid are available. Please contact the Financial Aid office for more information. You should file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov) to be considered. Please see website for current tuition and fee schedule.

Where will the face to face Flex Start classes take place?

The Flex Start classes will take place in Mulroy Hall at Onondaga. This recently renovated building has 15 smart classrooms, wireless internet and ample parking. It is located at 4926 Onondaga Rd. , Route 173.

Will my instructor be available outside of regular class hours for additional help?

Most faculty have office hours and can be contacted via email or phone. Each faculty member will tell you the best way to be contacted.

How do I register for a Flex Start class?

We recommend you meet with one of our Educational Advisors in the Center for Advising and First-Year Students to pick the courses that best meet your goals. Once you have been advised, you can register online through WebAccess. For new students to Onondaga, you can create a user ID and password to be able to register online. You many also come in person to Student Central in the Gordon Student Center.

When is tuition due for my Flex Start class?

Payment in full is due no later than Friday, February 24. Payment can be made on line at http://pay.sunyocc.edu. To help you meet your expenses you can sign up for the payment plan at https://occweb.sunyocc.edu/payplan/.  

Do I need a Certificate of Residence?

To qualify for “resident” or “in-county” tuition rates, students who are permanent residents of New York State, but not Onondaga County must obtain a Certificate of Residence from their County Treasures Office. A new certificate must be obtained each year. 

Applications for a Certificate of Residences for the counties may be downloaded from our website http://students.sunyocc.edu/central.aspx under “Printable Forms”. Applications must be completed, notarized, and forwarded to your County Treasurer who will then issue the Certificate. As soon as you receive your Certificate of Residence, please forward it to the Bursar’s office and we will update your billing statement to reflect the resident tuition rates.

Is dining available in Mulroy Hall?

Vending machines are available on the 2nd and 4th floors of Mulroy Hall. More complete dining options are available for students in the Gordon Student Center.

Is there transportation available between Mulroy Hall and the Main Campus?

The campus currently has a bus transit system for the campus. Stops are made around the hour at various locations on-campus.

Where is H-1 Hall?

H-1 Hall has been renamed Mulroy Hall
