“Onondaga Community College applauds Governor Cuomo’s efforts to extend NYSUNY 2020 to all of the 64 campuses in the State University of New York system, providing important opportunities for all institutions to advance academic excellence and generate economic development in our state. As one of the 30 SUNY community colleges, Onondaga serves a student body of nearly 13,000 learners, including significant percentages of first-generation college students, laid-off workers, returning veterans, and recent high school graduates from all socio-economic strata. The opportunity to compete for special funding represents an important step on behalf of all citizens who wish to pursue a college credential. In addition, as increasingly families and students recognize the tremendous dual value of top academic quality and affordable tuition offered by our state’s community colleges, Onondaga Community College joins with Chancellor Zimpher and our sister SUNY institutions in extending its appreciation to Assembly Speaker Silver for his advocacy to increase the state’s funding commitment to community colleges.”
