Board Grants Emerita Status to Outgoing Trustee

At its board meeting of June 19, 2012, the Onondaga Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve Trustee Emerita status to outgoing Trustee Connie M. Whitton.

Whitton served Onondaga as a Trustee for 16 years. She was appointed by Governor George Pataki in 1996. Whitton served the Board as Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary through a period of significant transformation that included the opening of the Whitney Applied Technology Center and the North Site, the appointment of an interim president and a new president, and the development of the College’s first strategic plan.

“We extend to Connie our tremendous gratitude for her service. Her hard work and dedication played a major role in Onondaga’s growth,” said College Interim President Margaret M. “Meg” O’Connell. Board Chair Allen J. Naples added, “Having worked side-by-side with Connie I know her commitment to Onondaga and our students. The College has benefited greatly from her service.”
