Onondaga Peace Officers Go Navy Blue
Onondaga Community College’s Peace Officers are getting a new look. Starting Monday, February 18 they’ll be wearing navy blue uniforms. Officers have worn light blue since the department was started in 2007. As light blue shirts needed to be replaced, they were becoming increasingly hard to find and more expensive.
The Department of Campus Safety and Security has 16 armed, sworn Peace Officers who will wear the new navy blue shirts and pants.
The department also has three members dedicated to the C.O.P.E. Unit, which stands for Community Oriented Policing and Education. Those officers wear navy blue polo shirts with khaki pants. Members of the C.O.P.E. Unit promote community partnerships, develop educational crime prevention programs, and enhance the quality of life on campus.
