Dr. Jeff Dunn is the Instructor of Low Brass at Onondaga Community College.  As a trombonist, he has performed with ensembles such as the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Brass Ensemble, and the Outer Loop Quartet, which was named the winner of the 2021 American Trombone Quartet Competition. Jeff has previously taught at Ithaca College, the University of Rochester, and the Eastman Community Music School.  Jeff Dunn is also the Program Manager at the Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music, where he co-teaches a course on careers, curates leadership development programs, and advises students.

An advocate for high quality education for young trombonists, Jeff founded the Texas Trombone Institute.  During his tenure as the President, the nonprofit provided an annual summer program for students in Tomball, TX, as well as additional clinics, professional development for band directors, and resources for students.  Previously, Jeff was a Private Low Brass Instructor for the Tomball Independent School District, where he taught a large studio of trombone, euphonium, and tuba students, and directed the Tomball High School Trombone Choir and Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble.    

Jeff has presented clinics at the International Trombone Festival, the New York State School Music Association Conference, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and the Virtual Trombone Workshop.  Additional appearances include guest masterclasses for Mansfield University, Hamilton College, and Tarleton State University.  He is published by the International Trombone Association Journal, the Online Trombone Journal, Noteworthy: the  International Women’s Brass Conference Newsletter, and Eighth Note Publications.

Jeff currently resides in Penfield, NY, along with this wife and daughter. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College.
