FAQ

Q: How do I apply?
A: Follow the link on this page or the one sent via email.  There is no minimum GPA to apply, but we are looking for participants who can demonstrate their willingness to work hard and dedication to growing as leaders.  Each cohort is limited to 20 people, so space is limited.

Q: Does this cost anything?
A: There is no cost to you, the student.  We received a grant from the College President’s office to fund this because OCC President, Dr. Warren Hilton, believes this is a good investment in your future.  As such, students who complete the workshop and earn the microcredential will receive a $500 stipend courtesy of Dr. Hilton.

Q: Where will the workshop take place?
A: The workshop will be held on Onondaga Community College’s main campus in the same room each day.  You will get an email with the room number and directions soon.

Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Please dress professionally but comfortably, like you would when attending class.  No strenuous activities are planned, but the workshop includes activities where participants are asked to move around the room as they work in small groups.

Q: Can I live in the residence halls while I attend the workshop?
A: If you are signed up to live in the residence halls for the upcoming semester (Fall 2024), we can arrange for you to move in early.  Unfortunately, the residence halls are only an option for those students who are signed up to live there for the regular semester.

Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare
A: You will be asked to fill out a brief survey to help us determine your Working Styles.  The survey only takes a few minutes to fill out, and the link will be sent to you via email before the workshop starts.

Q: What if I come late, have to leave early, or miss a session?
A: Participants should commit to attending the full workshop, but unexpected things may occur.  If this happens, please contact the facilitators as soon as you are able.

Q: How should I list this on my resume, and will it appear on my OCC transcript?
A: Everyone who successfully completes the workshop will be awarded a digital badge for an official OCC micro-credential.  The digital badge can be listed on resume websites like LinkedIn and the micro-credential will appear on your OCC transcript.
