Along with granting two degrees of its own, the Department of Mathematics offers traditional courses, online courses, and a math concentration to students enrolled in other degree programs at the college. In addition, the department provides math assistance available to all students enrolled in the college.
The Mathematics Department at Onondaga Community College offers the degree program:
Although most college majors require at least one math course, the mission of the math/science program is to provide students with a foundation for scientific inquiry and evaluation. Upon successful completion students will be able to transfer to a four-year college to earn a Bachelor's degree in math or science or be able to enter another science-based program of study.
Students must take a placement exam prior to registration. See placement testing schedule and review sheets.
Each fall and spring semester, the Mathematics Department participates in math league competitions sponsored by the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) and the New York State Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (NYSMATYC).
