Six Onondaga Community College graduates will be recognized as distinguished Alumni Faces honorees for their professional achievements and contributions to the college and the community. Their accomplishments will be highlighted during an induction ceremony April 3 at 5 p.m. in the Frederick Marvin and Ernst Schuh Recital Hall in the Academic II Building. Today we highlight honoree Kim Dwyer '89.

The outstanding design work of Kim Dwyer '89 and her team can be seen in healthcare and higher education facilities across New York State thanks to her work as Managing Partner of Dwyer Architectural, a New York State Certified Woman-owned Business Enterprise.

Kim is a native of Utica who enrolled in OCC’s Architectural Technology program and found a community of colleagues who wanted to see everyone succeed. “We were a small-knit group who helped each other constantly. The professors challenged us with team-oriented work so it had the feel of a professional studio environment." A week after graduation, she began working at King + King Architects. She spent 21 years there before starting Dwyer Architectural in 2010.

Future OCC students will benefit from her team’s expertise. Dwyer Architectural designed the transformation of the first and second floors in Ferrante Hall where students prepare for rewarding health-related careers.
