Technology changes fast. If you work in a highly technical field, the need for education is continuous. That's why six employees of JMA Wireless came to the Onondaga Community College campus earlier this semester. They participated in a FANUC Handling Tool Operations and Programming class to learn how to use robots to make their jobs more efficient. FANUC is the world's leading supplier of automation for manufacturing including robotics, CNCs and Motion Control, and ROBOMACHINE machining center.
Professor Mike Grieb, who is Chair of Applied Engineering Technology at OCC, is a Certified FANUC instructor. He led the training sessions in OCC's Electromechanical Lab which is located on the first floor of the Whitney Applied Technology Center. The training lasted 32 hours over a two-week period. The JMA Wireless employees earned their industry-recognized certification while gaining valuable skills they can apply at work. JMA Wireless makes the world's most advanced software-based 5G platform which it designs, codes, and manufactures in Syracuse.
The training was partially funded through a New York College Apprenticeship Network Grant.
