OCC is a finalist in the category of Planning, Governance, and Finance which recognizes initiatives that improve efficiency and effectiveness. The College's submission is titled, "To Save Developmental Education, We Ended It." It's focus is work done by the English department to completely redesign OCC's writing program to provide the greatest opportunity for students to be successful. Faculty and staff who played a critical role in the effort include Mike O'Connor, Malkiel Choseed, Matt DelConte, Pam Mullen, Stephanie Putnam, Sophia Marku, Justin Pritchard, Michelle Malinovsky, Christian Heisler, Kathy D'Aprix, Wendy Tarby, Naomi Stewart, and Hyesook Shim. As part of the Bellwether competition which is virtual this year, each college will put together a 60-minute presentation which details its effort.
