George Grigorian's journey through higher education took some unexpected turns, but he's happy with where he is now. After graduating from Jamesville-Dewitt High School in 2022, he enrolled in the Business Management program at Cazenovia College. A short time later, he learned the school would close its doors for good in May 2023.
Grigorian decided to transfer to Onondaga Community College. After starting classes, he was forced to withdraw for medical reasons. He returned one year later and found his transition to be seamless. "I fit in here right away. I love it here. Cazenovia was so small it felt like a high school. This feels more like a college. There are so many more opportunities here."
Those opportunities include being co-chair of this semester's Unity Day, and a member of the Extraordinary Men of Distinction (EMOD) Advisory Board. "Being a leader as co-chair of Unity Day was a great experience. Being a part of EMOD is like a brotherhood. We generally care for each other. I feel like I've known all of them all my life. It's cool being part of a brotherhood like that."
While majoring in Business Administration, Grigorian also served as president of the Business Club for a semester. "The professors are all amazing. I love the classroom with the stock ticker (Crabill Commons), and the School of ACBE (Arts, Communication, Business & Entrepreneurship) is on top of everything. They're always doing entrepreneurship series and a lot of other interesting events."
Grigorian has taken on a new challenge this semester, joining OCC's Men's Lacrosse team as a Manager. "This is the highest level of lacrosse I've ever been around. We have players here from all over. I want to be part of the opportunity to get a championship ring."
