FANUC Certification

Fifteen Onondaga Community College students have a new level of expertise they can take into the workforce. They successfully completed certification for handling tool operations and programming on FANUC robotics brand technology.

"This is an exciting opportunity because FANUC is recognized by industry as one of the most installed robots in the world. Students learn a very complicated programming language that controls the robots," said Mike Grieb, Professor and Chair of OCC's Applied Engineering Technology Department. "This is an industry-recognized certification they can take with them, put on their resume, and show they have these skills for programming and working with these robots."

All 15 students are in OCC's Electromechanical Technology degree program which started in the fall 2023 semester. This May, the program will graduate its first class of students. Several of the students completed paid internships at Micron Technology last summer.
