I. Policy Statement
In order to comply with and assure protection under federal trademark law, Title 15, U.S.C., section(s) 1051 et seq., Onondaga Community College (OCC) is required to monitor all uses of its trademarks and service marks. Unauthorized use of OCC trademarks or service marks is a violation of trademark law.
II. Reason for Policy
The purpose of this Policy is to provide information and guidelines to the College community regarding the use of OCC's trademarks and service marks.
III. Applicability of the Policy
This policy applies to faculty, staff, students, academic departments, administrative divisions/departments, alumni organizations, the OCC Foundation, student organizations, vendors, affiliated organizations, and informal and ad hoc groups.

VII. Procedures
Trademarks and Service Marks
OCC’s trademarks and service marks include, but are not limited to: the words "Onondaga Community College," the official crest of OCC; and all current and future trademarks, service marks, word marks, designs or logos used by OCC (collectively, the “OCC Marks”).
Guidelines for Using Trademarks and Service Marks
The OCC Marks are intended to present a positive image of the College. The OCC Marks are not to be used in the name of a business, in advertising, as part of another mark or logo, or on a product in a way that could state or imply an endorsement.
The OCC Marks are not to be provided to any off-campus organization without approval of the Office of Marketing and New Media.
The OCC Marks are not to be used in any way that will discriminate against any persons or groups based on race, color, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender expression, sexual orientation, familial status, pregnancy, predisposing genetic characteristics or carrier status, military status (including US Veteran status), domestic violence victim status, prior criminal conviction, marital status or any other characteristic protected by law.
Approval
The use of any of the OCC Marks must be approved by the Office of Marketing and New Media prior to production of each item. The use of the OCC Marks on consumer goods produced, ordered or sold by units of OCC or its affiliates must be approved by the Office of Marketing and New Media prior to production.
OCC reserves the right to approve or disapprove any use of the OCC Marks, even if not explicitly prohibited by this policy or these guidelines.
