Sara Magowan

Sarah Magowan (Assistant Director of Student Health & Wellness)
B.S., SUNY Oswego

Sarah Magowan is the Assistant Director of Student Health & Wellness at OCC. She has over 10 years of professional experience working in prevention education. From 2017-2021, Sarah was the project manager of a 5-year OASAS grant that allowed OCC to create and implement alcohol and other drug prevention initiatives on campus. Sarah approaches student meetings through a harm reduction and public health education lens. She enjoys helping students create manageable health goals that focus on overall wellbeing, safety and reduce negative health outcomes. Sarah is also a Deputy Title IX Coordinator here on campus, and Co-Chair of OCC’s Behavioral Intervention Team WeCare. Her office is located in Gordon Counseling Center.

Alex Halstead

Alex Halstead, LMHC (Case Manager, Counseling & Community Care Hub)

Alex is the Case Manager for the Community Care Hub. She earned her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Oswego in 2011 and has worked in college counseling centers and non-profit settings for over 10 years. Prior to taking the case manager role in CCH, Alex was a student success coach/navigator at OCC since 2021, connecting students with campus resources so that they could problem solve challenges and continue to work towards their academic/career goals. As an OCC alum, she understands just how crucial it is for students to build a support network on campus and is looking forward to assisting OCC students from a holistic perspective with their non-academic needs.
