Leaves of Absence

Sabbatical Leave

The objective of such leave is to increase an employee's value to Onondaga and thereby improve and enrich its program. Such leave shall be regarded neither as a reward for service nor as a vacation or rest period occurring automatically at stated intervals. Further, Sabbatical leaves shall be granted for planned travel, study, formal education, research, writing or other experience of professional value. For more information, refer to Faculty and Professional Administrators contracts.

Medical Leave

Whether it is due to a non-work related injury, minor surgery, or pregnancy, you may be eligible for certain Onondaga benefits when your doctor takes you out of work. If this is the case, you probably have many questions about what happens as this relates to work and taking time off. This summary will help clarify the process and answer your related questions.

Other Leaves of Absence

Onondaga Community College recognizes that in certain circumstances it may be necessary for employees to be away from work beyond the period covered by sick leave, personal time off, vacation or other paid leave. For more information, refer to page 16 of the Employee Handbook.
