PTK All-State Medal

Two of Onondaga Community College's best and brightest have been named Phi Theta Kappa All-State students. They were chosen for the academic team because of their distinguished academic achievements and leadership accomplishments. Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of all community colleges.

The 2024-2025 honorees are:

Yesvier Aviles Mendez, Physical Therapist Assistant

Yesvier is a native of Puerto Rico who had previously earned a Physical Therapist Assistant degree. When he learned his credits were not transferrable, he retook all of his classes at OCC. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a member of Student Government, a Meg O'Connell Social Justice Scholar, and the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program which provided him the opportunity to work as a Health Career Coach with Henninger High School students. He plans to work as a Physical Therapist Assistant while pursuing his bachelor's degree.

She shared her computer expertise at the Liverpool Library, where she ran a 5-day boot camp titled ‘Girls Who Code.’ She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
